Dear and beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ
Sending you all a warm greeting from Cuba!
This is a quick note, but it comes from our heart as we start the beginning of other academic year (2018-2019) at the Evangelical Seminary of Theological in Matanzas, Cuba, as well as our partnership with our brothers and sisters of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Cuba. We are humbled by your expression of support for our ministry. This new academic year brings to the seminary three new residential students. All three students are married, bringing with them their families. There are a total of twelve residential students engaged in theological learning this academic year, for which we are thankful. Our celebration continues as the seminary community celebrates with one of our second year student, Jorge Luis Diaz Rivera and his wife Anaisa the birth of Elisabet, their first born. The seminary community will gather to celebrate and support them. In Cuban fashion, we will all become Elisabet’s aunts, uncles and care-givers. Praise God!
Your solidarity is an example to us of a true servant spirit, putting Kingdom priorities here in Cuba ahead of anything else. David and I are greatly encouraged by your prayerful support. We supportively pray for you and your ministries as well.
Although communication here in Cuba are difficult, we are always encouraged every time we are able to receive your emails, post-cards and other communications. It gives us a sense of being truly partners and connected knowing that we are being thought of and prayed for. When groups of fellow Presbyterian brothers and sisters from the United States come to visit with their Cuban partners, we are always delighted to welcome you to the Seminary. Our home at the Seminary is always open as a welcoming place to gather for sharing and getting to know each other better. When and if you find yourselves at the Seminary in Matanzas, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

For David, being appointed as professor of New Testament and Greek is a continuation of his calling to empower men and women to proclaim and witness to the transformative power of the Gospel. As for Josey, she will continue to engage in ministry in the area of Christian Education and wherever needed.
