Happy Days are finally here

Happy Days are finally here, The days of nine to five have disappeared. I’ve worked all my life and paid my dues. Now I get to do anything I choose.

I started my employment at the Presbytery of San Gabriel on July 1, 2001. After an interview with the Associate Executive Presbyter, TE Mariko Yanagihara and Administrative Assistant, Beverly Chastain, I was hired as the secretary. The presbytery was between executives as Bryce Little had completed his service and the presbytery was in the process of conducting a search for an Interim EP.

Many things have changed over my years with the presbytery including working for three Executive Presbyters and moving the presbytery office, twice. We’ve gone from bulk mailing paper Presbytery Packets to distributing them electronically and even having virtual meetings via Zoom.

Most of the presbytery staff from 2001 have moved on. Christine Boling, Bookkeeper, TE Tom Rennard, Interim Executive Presbyter, TE Mariko Yanagihara, Associate Executive Presbyter and Beverly Chastain, Administrative Assistant have moved on to other positions. TE Bob Wendel, Stated Clerk has retired and sadly, TE Randy Lee and Betty Crowell have passed away.

And now, I too will be moving on; I will be retiring effective December 1, 2020. My husband and I are in the process of purchasing a new home in Arizona. Construction should be completed in late February, 2021. We are both extremely excited although it will be a huge change for both of us as we have lived most of our lives in Southern California.

I am incredibly grateful for the years that I have worked for the presbytery; for the people I’ve met, the friends I’ve made, and for the support and kindness that I’ve received. Thank you!

I pray that God blesses you all with peace, health, and security.
