General Assembly Commissioners – Advisory Delegates

Dear Ruling Elders, Teaching Elders, and Young Adults of San Gabriel Presbytery,

Next year, the 223rd General Assembly (2018) will meet in St. Louis, Missouri, June 16-23.  The theme of the GA will be “Renewing the Vision:  Kindom Building for the 21st Century.”  At our Presbytery meeting on November 4, San Gabriel Presbytery will be electing one Ruling Elder Commissioner, one Teaching Elder Commissioner, one Young Adult Advisory Delegate (ages 17-23), and alternates for each.  If you are interested in being considered for these very important positions, or want to nominate someone, please use the attached nomination form.  For your information, we are also attaching the draft docket for the GA.

For this GA, the process for selecting Theological Seminary Advisory Delegates has changed significantly.  In the past, PC(USA) and certain seminaries selected the TSADs; this time, seminarians who have at least one year of seminary education after GA are eligible to nominate themselves, and the Office of the General Assembly will select the TSADs from all applicants.  Please see the attached information sheet for more information, including the link for applying.

The General Assembly is a unique experience for every person who participates in it, and a remarkable demonstration of the dedication and connectionalism of the Presbyterian Church (USA).  The PC(USA) appreciates this volunteer service on the part of active members of our Presbytery or member churches, which includes preparation prior to GA and full attention for the week of the Assembly.  The GA pays travel, hotel, and meal expenses for all elected commissioners and advisory delegates.  Please consider your participation, and if interested, send the completed form to Rev. Rob Crowell, Moderator of the Committee on Representation and Nominations, by OCTOBER 16, 2017.

In faith and service,
Committee on Representation and Nominations
